Rolls-Royce 200EX concept car

rolls-royce-200ex-Formerly known as the RR4, the Ghost is the new entry-level sedan from Rolls-Royce. Official photos of the Ghost have not been released, but the car will reportedly look similar to the 200EX show car in the photo at right. The Ghost is based on mechanical bits from the BMW 7-series (BMW owns Rolls-Royce) but the engine will be a unique twin-turbocharged 6.6 liter V12 good for at least 500 horsepower that will turn the rear wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission. Styling details include rear-hinged “suicide” back doors and a more dynamic driving experience intended, according to Rolls-Royce, “for those owners around the world that will wish to drive it themselves.” Pricing has not been announced, but the Ghost is expected to sell for around £170,000, which equates to just over $270,000 — about $110,000 cheaper than the least-expensive 2010 Phantom.

PHANTOM: The Phantom sedan received a modified front grille and bumper and some mild interior updates midway through the 2009 model year, and those will continue for 2010. All Phantoms (Sedan, Extended-Wheelbase Sedan, Coupe and Drophead) get larger side mirrors and automatic high beams, while on the inside an all-wood dashboard replaces last year’s aluminum accents. The no-cost paint palette has been expanded to 16 colors, and the Phantom offers new forged wheel options.
