TechArt Porsche Cayman

Porsche upgrader TechArt presents its new individualization options for the newest Porsche Boxster and Porsche Cayman models. Features include two Aerokits, daytime running lights, a set of sport springs, as well as carbon interior packages. “Our upgrade options enhance both the exterior and the interior, fulfilling our clients’ desire for more individual exclusivity,” explains Tobias Beyer, spokesperson for TechArt Automobil GmbH.

TÜV certified Aerokits

Both of the new Aerokits I+II from PU-RIM implement components that were tested in a wind tunnel to optimize their drag coefficients. In addition, the downforce on both axles is perceptibly higher. Essential Aerokit components are a front spoiler with a spoiler lip that match the body’s color, side sills, and a rear area that has been optimized in terms of both design and aerodynamics. The rigid rear spoiler and a rear apron with a diffuser look ensure greater stability at extreme speeds. Both models’ exhaust systems add a sporty touch to the striking rear design. Two round TechArt exhaust tailpipes in glossy or black chrome handle the rear exhaust flow. In comparison to series models, the engine sound is more sonorous and hollow, though it yields to a powerful crescendo at the highest RPMs.

New daytime running lights system in the Aerokit II

A multifunctional daytime running lights system was developed for both TechArt’s Boxster-based Roadster design and its Cayman-based TechArt GT design. The LED system units combine daytime, idle, and parking lighting in a single cohesive housing. The different modules are elegantly integrated into the upper part of the front spoiler. The light intensity automatically adjusts to the selected driving lights setting. Moreover, the daytime running lights dim automatically when either of the turning signals is active to improve their visibility.

Sporty chassis

The performance spectrum of the new individualization options is also evident in the chassis of the Porsche Boxster and Porsche Cayman. The 19- and 20-inch aluminum wheels expertly transmit the power of these 2.9 and 3.4 liter engines to the road. The TechArt Formula, Formula II, and Formula III forged wheels both ensure abundant ventilation for the wheel arches and allow the braking systems to be seen. The tight alignment of TechArt’s set of sport springs directly permit any steering angles. Thanks to TechArt’s Vario and VarioPlus threaded suspension chassis, the models can be lowered up to 30 mm during assembly and optimally adapted to suit the individual demands for each vehicle. To ensure sufficient traction for this high-performance system, TechArt recommends the Conti Pneu Sport Contact 3.

Exclusive interiors

Because TechArt runs its own saddlery, it can offer a nearly limitless variety of custom interior designs. For instance, the interior can be completely outfitted with the finest leather and decorative seams in contrasting colors. Moreover, carbon interior packages I+II further expand the options for high-quality stylizing of all ornamentation. Additional accessories like aluminum sport pedals, a 3-spoked sport steering wheel, or illuminated entry sills with individual logos round out the diverse options for the design of the interior.

Porsche Panamera Turbo: Fastest sedan round the Ring?

News coming from Germany say that Porsche Panamera Turbo has just set a new lap record round the Nurburgring Nordschleife race track. Panamera with Walter Röhrl, Porsche chief test driver and rally legend, behind the wheel managed to set a time of 7min 56 seconds, which is 3 seconds faster than the current record holder, Cadillac CTS-V, and makes it the fastest four-door saloon. Problem is, it’s not official yet!
Porsche has not commented on this story yet, but based on our knowledge of Herr Röhrl driving skills, it should have been like a walk in the park for him! Specially as he had 500hp of that Turbo engine at his disposal.

Porsche planning diesel and Panamera GTS, hybrid

Porsche has already confirmed that it will offer a hybrid version of the Panamera after the gasoline Panameras make their market debut later this year (no official date on when the hybrid Panamera will arrive in dealerships). According to AutoCar, Porsche is also planning a diesel version of the new Panamera and is looking to use existing Volkswagen diesel engines.

“There are V6 and V8 diesels within the VW Group that could be used as a basis,” a Porsche official told the UK publications.

That hints at the same 240-hp 3.0L V6 diesel used in the Cayenne, which is also used by Audi and Volkswagen on the A6 and Touareg respectively.

Porsche is also said to be working on an even faster Panamera that will sit above the Turbo model. It will use the same strategy as the Cayenne GTS and will do away with the Panamera Turbo’s standard air suspension and replacing it with steel springs. Badging on the car is expected to be a Turbo S or a GTS.

Sportec revealed 858hp Porcshe 997

porsche_997_GT3_03_mThis is the Sportec SPR1 T80 which is a modified Porsche 997 from a tuner in Switzerland. If you judge it by the way it looks, you might think, at most, it has 500, 550 hp. Because unlike any other tuned Porsche, the SPR1 is not shouty at all, it looks very innocent! But this car is definitely a wolf in sheep’s clothing!!!
Sportec has managed to extract 858 bhp and 840 nm of torque by bolting a couple of turbocharges to the car’s 3.6 liter flat six, so this is actually one of the most powerful Porsche 911s ever made! The result of this much power is plain to see: 0-100 in 3 seconds and top speed of 380 km/h! Oh my!
The tuner had to modify many things to keep the car in check at this level of performance. The power goes to all four wheels and it has a fancy limited slip diff. SPR1 uses a six-speed manual gearbox. This is a fantastic achievement for the Swiss tuner, They are all really good at making extreme Porsches! Rinspeed anyone?!
The good thing is that the engine tuning is only a part of the package. Apart form exterior and interior changes, you get lots of new stuff in the option list.
SPR1 T80: 858bhp, power to all four wheels and 236mph plus top speed
Swiss automotive tuner SPORTEC, famed for its ultra high performance SPR1 range of 997 based supercars, is proud to announce the latest addition to its range, the T80. Conceived, designed and constructed in Switzerland by SPORTEC’s technical team, the new version of the SPR1 offers unrivalled supercar performance and exclusivity.
The T80 builds upon the performance of the SPR1 range by increasing the power of its bi-turbo, 3.6-litre, 24-valve, flat six T80M engine to a staggering 858 bhp, which, when combined with the benefits of permanent four wheel drive, creates a benchmark blend of poise and performance.
This means that each of the SPR1 T80’s four wheels channels 214.5 bhp to the tarmac, akin to having a VW Golf GTi powering each tyre, yet the SPR1’s bi-turbo engine remains fully Euro IV emissions compliant.
The SPORTEC SPR1 T80 enjoys supercar performance, taking a mere 3.0 seconds to hit 62mph (100kmh,) with 186mph (300kmh) appearing in just 18.9 seconds. A top speed of more than 236mph has been recorded at Nardo, Italy.
Technically, the SPORTEC SPR1 T80 boasts highlights including titanium connecting rods, a flat carbon fibre under floor, active suspension and F1 style ceramic brake discs.
The use of composite (carbon / Kevlar) body panels, forged alloy wheels, an integrated safety cage and ceramic brake discs allows the SPR1 to be lighter, safer and more dynamic than other cars in its class.
Available in a choice of colours, the SPR1 T80 boasts a number of exclusive SPORTEC styling and interior touches, including lightweight 20 inch forged alloy wheels, a carbon fibre rear wing and leather / alcantara interior.
Brackley based Automotive Performance Services (APS) is the UK concession for SPORTEC. The SPR1 T80 will be making its British debut at the prestigious Salon Privé show at London’s Hurlingham club between 22nd-24th July.

Porsche Cayenne diesel

techart-porsche-cayenne-diesel-1

If you want a powerful, fast Porsche Cayenne, Stuttgart has no shortage of choices on offer, topping out with the mental 550 horsepower Turbo S. Of course, there are plenty of aftermarket tuners willing to take the unreasonable up to downright silly proportions, but if you were looking for power and speed without sacrificing too much fuel, for the most part you were advised to look elsewhere. After all, a big SUV isn’t exactly the ideal platform for either. But then along comes Porsche tuner extraordinaire Techart to show you the way with its own custom Porsche Cayenne Diesel.
Boosting output from 240 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque to a hefty 290 hp and 465 lb-ft, the Techart Cayenne Diesel drops the stock 0-60 time of 8.3 seconds down to a handy 7.7 seconds, all without harming the vehicle’s fuel economy or emissions numbers. Nice work, but the most impressive part is the modified torque curve that gives the big oil-burner accessible grunt from as low as 1,000 rpm.
Techart has also crafted a unique Aerokit 1 for the diesel sport-ute, giving it a more aggressive stance while improving airflow, capped with giant 21-inch alloys or optional 22s. The British tuning house offers a turnkey model at £55,500 (around $89k USD) with the body kit and engine mods, or can fit an existing diesel Cayenne with the Aerokit for £15,000 ($24k) and the engine kit for £2,500 ($4k).

Sportec Porsche 911 Turbo SPR1

Porsche 911Turbo

Porsche 911Turbo

The standard Porsche 911 Turbo’s 480HP 3.6-liter bi-turbocharged flat six is by no means a slouch, but where there’s power, there’s always space for even more power. Or at least that’s what Porsche tuning specialist Sportec believes. The Swiss based tuner revealed a new version of its 911 Turbo based SPR1 that lifts the 3.6-liter flat six’s output to a staggering 858 horsepower at 8,200 rpm and 642 lb-ft of peak torque at 4,800 rpm. Power is transferred to all four wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox.
Weighing in at 1,345kg or 2,965 lbs, the power-to-weight ratio is 637 horsepower per ton. According to Sportec, the SPR1 takes a mere 3.0 seconds to hit 62mph (100km/h,) with 186mph (300km/h) coming in just 18.9 seconds. The Swiss firm said that the supercar has recorded a top speed in excess of 236mph or 380km/h at Nardo, Italy.

Other highlights of the SPR1 include titanium connecting rods, a flat carbon fiber under floor, active suspension and F1 style ceramic brake discs plus composite (carbon / Kevlar) body panels, 20-inch forged alloy wheels, an integrated safety cage and a leather / alcantara interior.
